If you're inviting kids to your wedding then you definitely need some plans in place to keep them happy and tantrums at bay. We have curated a detailed list with super fun ideas to help your little ones pass the time and parents to relax. Trust us, take notes!
1. Designated Kids Corner
Kids will adore having their own special seating where for once a No Parents Allowed rule can apply! Spice it up with unique pint-sized furniture that will feel custom-made for the chic kids corner.
1. Oversized Lawn Games
If your shindig is outside, yard games are a must! Whether its oversized Jenga, chess/checkers, tic-tac-toe, or Connect 4 as seen below. Parents of tiny tots won't have to worry about small game pieces getting into their hands and clean-up is easy!
3. Coloring Table
Tape down some brown paper and stock up on pencils, crayons, and (washable!!) markers and set the kids free! Give them some wedding-themed ideas to draw and make sure you tell them the Bride and Groom are looking forward to seeing their creations!
4. Board Games
This idea will probably work better with the older kids or at least some supervision for the itty- bitty ones. Throw down some classics, (Monopoly and Sorry are a must!), and let the kids have some competitive yet harmless fun!
5. Place Cards
Kids will absolutely love having a seat at the table specifically for them with their name on it! You can get creative and use theme related ideas, like a beach pail for a nautical wedding. These can even double as favors for the little ones to take home.
6. Custom Coloring Book
Use images from past experiences the kids will recognize or introduce the bridal party in a clever way with a one-of-a-kind coloring book! Children will love seeing their favorite Aunt or Uncle on the pages, especially if they get to design their own wedding dress ;)
7. Flashlights/Glow Sticks
Flashlights! Tell the kids to play flashlight tag when it gets dark enough. These could also come in handy on the dance floor when kids are trying to locate their parents! You could get them in the same color as your wedding reception for fun photo ops as well!
8. Care Packages
Why choose one of these ideas when you can have them all! Fill cute caddies with snacks, crayons, stickers and other kid-friendly items so children can pick and chooses how they want to spend their time. We love the idea of using old-school lunch boxes and that way at the end of the night parents can throw everything in, lock it up, and let the kids use your fun toys on the drive home!
What child doesn't like Legos? Let them design and build fun keepsakes during the reception. Set up is super easy and cost effective. No matter boy or girl, your young guests will be entertained for hours with this classic game.
10. Disposable Cameras
Grab a handful of disposable cameras at your local store and put together a cool and interactive I Spy game and kids will be running around enjoying the party as much as their parents are! Tiny tikes will feel just as important as the photographer with camera in hand. This activity guarantees little mess and encourages kids to play together!
Kids and bubbles go together like PB and J. Suitable for all ages, this entertaining activity is cheap and satisfying for your young audience. Coming in all shapes and sizes, make them even more enticed and get a giant bubble maker! Make sure you get enough for everyone though ;)
Give kids candy and a craft and you won't need a babysitter! Bookmarks, door knob hangers, masks, etc. the list goes on. Avoid glue or any crafting items that are too sticky or likely to be messy with a younger audience. Kids will love being creative and get a memento to take home with them. Pro tip: name and date it before hand so your wedding will become a fond memory!
